Takapuna Ski Club has been family
focussed since the beginning.

Our foundation members wanted a place where they could bring their families for skiing holidays on Mt Ruapehu.

Our history

Built in 1967, our club was specially designed to accommodate 32 members in a friendly and modern environment.  The kitchen and bathrooms have recently been renovated. Regular maintenance ensures it continues to be a comfortable, warm and
welcoming environment.

There is nothing quite like having your breakfast while the RAL crew get the lifts ready. Then simply click into your skis & ski down to the bottom lift for another awesome day.

Team work makes the dream work.

To keep costs down, help members get to know each other and teach children responsibility, the lodge leader assigns a daily duty to everyone staying at the club.

Duties are allocated with ability and age in mind.

The location

Perhaps the best thing about staying at the club is being right on the slopes of mighty Mount Ruapehu itself.  An active volcano of 2797 metres, in the centre of the
North Island.

Mt Ruapehu offers views across much of the North Island. The massiveness of the mountain makes it majestic.

Many scenes from Lord of The Rings were filmed on and around Mt Ruapehu, and "Mordor" (Mt Ngauruhoe) is Mt Ruapehu's neighbour.
